Marvin Eaton Anderson, age 90, was a life-long resident of Vicksburg, MS. He
passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Marvin was born on July 18, 1933, the youngest of three boys, to Knoble Oliver
(K.O.) and Mary Louise O’Bannon Anderson. He graduated from Carr Central High
School Class of 1952 where he was voted “Most Friendliest”. After graduation he
went on to study at Hinds Junior College where he was member of the band, played
his trumpet while the Hi-Steppers practiced, and voted by the student body as Mr.
Hinds Junior College. In 1954, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps as a member of the
band. He took “joy” in getting to play “Reveille” to waken his fellow Marines each
morning. Marvin continued his studies at Asbury College and University of
Southern Mississippi.
He was a life-long member of Gibson Memorial Methodist Church where he served
as Sunday School Teacher, member of Church Choir, and various committees and
leadership roles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Knoble Oliver Anderson, Mary Louise
O’Bannon Anderson, brothers, Norman Anderson and Donald Hubert Anderson,
and his wife of 24 years, Sarah Elizabeth Kilgore Anderson.
He is survived by his children, Kyle Marvin Anderson and wife Lisa, and Tammy
Anderson Warren and husband Walt, grandchildren, Kelsey Anderson, Hunter
Anderson, Skyler Anderson (Jordan), Colin Warren, Reid Warren (Maddie), and
Peyton Warren (Kinsey), great grandchildren, McKenna Raeanne Anderson and
Mary Reid Warren, nephew, Keith DeWayne Anderson, niece, Pamela Jean
Anderson, and wife of 12 years, Mary Jane Stanley Anglin-Anderson.
Marvin was well loved and easy to love by all his friends and family. He had no
enemies, because he was able to find the good in everyone. He was strong in his
faith and modeled his life after the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have
them do unto you”. His family rest well knowing that he is now walking with his
maker, singing in heavens choir, and blowing his trumpet!
Family will hold a private celebration of life service.
